What should I do if my dog is stung by a wasp or bee?
Until a dog has experienced the pain of a sting, this remains a risk. A
sting on the tongue is especially hazardous, because the tongue will swell
rapidly and may make breathing difficult.
If you witness the incident, try to identify the insect and the site of
the sting. It may be possible to extract a bee sting with the aid of tweezers
and a magnifying glass, and thus lessen its impact.
An anti-sting remedy can help, but it may be necessary to seek veterinary
assistance.
Some dogs are allergic to stings, and urgent treatment is then important
to prevent a serious adverse reaction.
