how often do you change your bedding and clean your cage? if you do that abt twice a week there shouldn't be much of a problem.

someone in here actually uses a non-slip mat, that have holes on them...so the poo go through them, and below is the beddings, absorb the pee.
i think the paws are dirty coz of the newspaper beddings..if u use it. Coz mine will get dirty at the nails there(coz its sharp & they like to dig the newspaper...maybe they think treasure hunt lolx) but not the sole of the paw..its still pinkish as ever :)

hms.mine never gets such a problem.maybe u put a thicker layer of cat litter.then pick their shit out more often.for me is..i cannot stand seeing it,once i see shit i have to pick.and also, enlarge their living space.i guess ur living space smaller so they walk where also will step onto their own poo.

How Often u pick their poo ? I can't stand my MaoQiu stepping on her poo that almost every hour if i'm home , i tend to be picking up her poo ... sometimes i feel she poo too much

The non-slip guy would be me :) My pigs' feet dun get dirty, only their nails. Cos they poo so much, some of it will accumulate above the mats. Thinking of ways of raising the mats so that there's more space for the poo to fall in...

i oso use non-slip mat. i think its worse than those flat bottom tray with cat litter. cos i have two cages - one with a pull out tray, the other is a flat bottom cage with cat litter.
the cage with cat litter- i only need to change it once 2-3 days. but the cage with pull ut tray and nonslip mat- wah lau - muz change everyday or else will be dammmn smelly. :irked: do u put cat litter in the pull out tray? sometimes, i put cos it will help to absorb the pee, otherwise my pull out tray lined with newspaper will be soaked with peeeee..
ya, the poo do drop directly into the pull out tray, but sometimes the piggies like to do it at some funny corners, then the poo all cooped at one place! in the end, muz scoop up the poo from some corners of the non-slip mat.
jus wondering, how do u deal / clean your cage?
hmm, overall, i still think flat bottom cage is much better/ easier/ faster to clean than cage with pull out tray/ non slip mat. anyone any tots?

I think your cage with the pull out tray is smelly cos most of the time you use newspapers rather than cat litter? Cat litter (BC, B2N) absorbs odour rather well and my setup does not smell. Maybe you can try putting litter in the tray?
I think even for flat bottom cages with litter, the pigs will still have their fav spot to poo/pee on.
A cage with tray/mats is definitely more troublesome cos there are more components to clean. But I dun really mind cos it keeps my pigs dry. Yup. As I mentioned before, my setup used to be flat bottom with litter.
But my younger pig likes to lie on her own pee, and developed a fungal infection. I was advised by the vet to keep her dry to avoid fungus. So far, my current setup is working fine. Her fungus has cleared up! Alright! :D But it took quite long. About 3-4 weeks with medication.
