it goes like this: i let my gp rest her paws on my arm and i can feel her trembling. she cant be cold cos i use warm water. is it normal? or is she just scared of shower? when i bath the other veteran gps at home, they dont tremble at all but instead enjoys the shower.

how do u wash yr gp's face? do u pour water from the head onto the face? or just splash splash with water? or only use a wet towel to wipe?

don't worry june, she's just scared. syd was like that the first few wet baths. and she might not like water... hence the nervous trembling. i wash sydney's face by wiping it with a wet towel. don't want to get water into her eyes, nose or ears.

I have this problem when bathing my GP face. His mouth fur stains have been bothering me since its yellowish, and I make use of the wet bath opportunity to make a small lather of shampoo on my fingers to rub on the stained fur, and use the shower head to spray on it. Hence I accidentally spray the whole face... And he choked on it before... Errr... Am I too violent...? I dunno if there is any good ways though, since the water must also contect with his mouth...

June20, I guess you GP is also scared... But if she doesnt tempted to escape, it wasnt difficult to bath her right? Haha...

At least all yours did was tremble :D.. my piggie tried to nibble my fingers during bath time to tell me she wanted OUT..then she jumped onto my lap scratching my leg as she scrambled to dry land(aka my lap) -_-

i bathe my pigs in my bathtub :) so if i leave it in a jiffy to take shampoo/towel..it wont run away coz the tub they wont be able to climb up...the paw has nothing to grab on :) and the drainage is the pop up type...so usually i pop close it.
Machi will wheek as it is scared to be alone...i bathe one by one coz if all put in the bathtub, all run here & there i also go mad haha

but i use shower to wet his body only (head no wet)...then shampoo it, then dip inside a small shallow plastic basin then use my hand to splash the water onto body, another hand holding under the tummy so it wont drown if struggle :p

i tried various ways before. i ever bathed all together. quick easy lar, for those veteran gps lor. cos they all know tis time for shower, then will stand then nicely for me to spray water and rub their fur. i just shooed them into the bathroom, also them to stand on the floor and spray water onto them, using the shower head. for those scared scread pigs, i put them in a small basin, and use a cup to scoop water and pour onto them slowly at first. muz train them to use shower head, hehee then easier for me.

other times, i also try wash them in the sink. in the sink then muz go one by one, cos my sink is those v small kind. mom say cannot use the big sink for washing gp! (haha, cos of hygenie reasons lor)

my pigs never struggle leh. they all sit in the sink nicely! maybe they know they should not jump cos the sink is so high up. but mus be careful, cos i think some pigs may jump and be injured! hmmm. no problem wif bathing my pigs, except i feel them trembling. they dun struggle or try to jump away lor.

maybe she doesnt feel secure in the hold u r providing her, when bathing, hence the trembling, i bath my gps is a small basin, so they are standing normally, and im able to use both hand when soaping them.

i wld thoroughly wet/wash their face with a warm towel.

for that yellowish stain, u shld just wipe it clean like wiping ur mouth clean, before washing the gp.

june that's amazing i never manage to do that, i spend maybe 30mins for each gps in the bathe, cos must shampoo 2x, 1time above, the next for the under belly, and legs. cos i feel that its not clean, wont drying them be a hassle.

so many running abt, shaking water off their fur, 4 gps 2 long hair 2 abby.

Hrmm my younger pigs do tremble when i bathe them but the older ones expert liao.. Scrappy will literally jump out of the basin and there were a couple of times she landed on the edge of the basin on her ribs. hence she stands on my palms when she bathes cos she is simply too violent liao.

I wash their faces by scooping some water in my palms and splashing on their faces. best not to get it in the noses or might lead to colds.. as for the stains.. cannot get out one.. if u do please let me know how.. cos Scruffy peed a lot last wk (i change her bottle to a 300ml so she is drinking like mad) and her butt is yellow with pee...

ya, 30mins abit too long, wait ur gp catch a cold!!

i spent abt 10-15mins max, must do it quick and get him out quick!

and dun spray the face cos they already hv such sensitve nose, don't ever let water get into their nose, like wat jace said, they might get a cold or worse an URI :( i just wet my palms and wipe their faces a few times..

mine is like QB express...
haha less than 10 minutes..for each pig
put in dry bathtub, shower with lukewarm water, shampoo, rubrub body & tummy & butt...then dip in the shallow basin & scoop water onto body, let the paw rest on the basin edge so it can stand on its own.

Then pick up, wrap in towel, towel dry & then hair dry. They all very cute, coz during hair dry will wag fur like dog, then stand on hind leg use the paws to 'kwa' the nose and groom themselves :)
