is there a need to seperate male and female piggies?
i read up in the forum and one of the users mentioned that inexperienced breeding could cause danger to the sows....

i mean i want them to breed just for once since they are still young...like i said about 4 weeks old...i read up and they've said its of lower risk to breed at a younger age...

i do play to separate the males from the females after they breed...males all in one cage and females all in another....

heard advice that males cannot live together in harmony...i've had couple shops saying that the males will live in harmony if you rear them together since their birthdate...so i suppose its safe and alright to breed just for once??...

if u want to breed u need the experience.... i suggest that newbies like u and i shld not breed yet... until u learn more abt pigs.... unless u want to cause ur sow and unborn piglets life endangerment.... please sep them or strilise the male...

of course i wouldn't want to cause any of my darlings death....
i had experience with pregnant pigs before...but that was many years back when i was much younger...so..im trying to find out more and get more advice from exprienced people here on how to maintain and make sure that nothing goes wrong...

Somebody knocks some sense into this person! u rather risk ur pigs then to listen to our advice?? i think the majority here will tell u NOT to breed them, whether u are experience or not. Some of the experience owners i know also had sows and babies dying. And are u serious when u said ' of course i wouldn't want to cause any of my darling death'? cos u are definately giving them to opportunity to be sent to death.

yes, it is so much of works & risks need to be considered abt yr own responsibility before u breed. we can't stop u of doing that but to advise "NOT TO ..like me & my friend as a bad example of breeding all the imported GPs in SG ...hopping to have the better genes against our local demands & benefit it.. but end up..we r having so much of problems to breed & taking care of .......the costs, time taken, tons of risks & issues ahead for breeding..really make us go crazy :( is not easy for us to stop now but try to avoid such unnecessary breeding program..wahlau there r so complicated things to concern & not just simply putting a word here ...anyway my overview of such meaning is.. whether u r experience or not ...1) pls don't breed ...2) better don't breed ...3) breed...for wat ???? tons of issues ahead ya!!!!!

gosh....after reading up...its sounds like a really really bad idea to breed...come to think of it..yea..i shouldn't be endangering my pigs life even the slightest bit...
guess i just wanted more of these cute little darlings......

thanks alot people...you made me realize alot about breeding...thks for the advice...

Yes i m glad that u realise it now. I think the first thing u should do it to separate ur 2 pigs. Males reach maturity at 8wks and females at 5wks. put a divider into ur cage so that at least ur pigs can see each other.

If u want more of these cute darlings, u can try adopting them from SPCA or rescue them from filthy env in petshops. And there are always ppl who buy a pig liao then their mums dun allow, so have to abandon it to their fren, who then tries to sell it in the forum to make some money. u guys know who i m talking abt.

Jace Lau

$90 at Namly animal clinic i think.. i asked them 2 wks ago but ur piggy and u have to do for interview first. cos ur pig might not survive the op.

hmmmm think i'll put up a barrier between them...at least they can see each another...tsk tsk tsk...

SmallZone

huh ? guess is so difficult to put barrier in between yr cage as it would cause the space problem..or others injury happens.. The best is to buy another cage, it shouldn't be costly if you r consideration of having a long term cares. :)

Ya CC cage is much better and cheaper than commercially available ones. 1m by 0.5m?? u will use a lot of litter.. please dun use woodshavings anymore (sell or give away the rest u have) and start using recycle paper today.

hanmin

i've been using recycled paper for the past week already...woodshavings save for my hamsters...
i had to use the comcercial cages because i had no choice..had to buy something to house them first...
will set up a new CC cage for them ASAP~~~....
