why one pig always chase the other in the cage? both piggies are about same size, slightly different age. BB is abt 1 yr old, GG is much older >2 yrs old, and both are females.
both are cage mates, they stay in the same cage but each has their own divided space. i separate cos BB always like to chase GG.
BB will walk close to GG then smell her butt, sniff sniff then chase her. both rwill run run and stop. then BB will start the whole thing again. no serious fights, but always do this in the cage. why huh? making fren? or is BB threatening GG?

From what I imagine, it seems like they are enjoying themselves leh. Thats what I see in petshops as well, chasing each other instead of harming. And when they chase, also got popcorning. Cute mah is it? As long as there is no injuries or fur loss involved, I guess it should be ok from my opinion. =D

Its normal interaction until they fight. Sows do try to establish rank among themselves too and its not exclusive to male pigs only.
remove the divider and let them play lor...

kimchi: yeah even female piggies can be preeeetty territorial okay. i had problems before with two girls. the older one used to snub the younger one and push her away with her nose, as if to tell her "this is my territory, and you're an intruder".
so ya it does pose problems. so far i've had no fighting piggies. so quite lucky in that sense that the pairs i've had so far got along reasonably well after awhile. but now i'm searching for another pig to make a pair. i feel so indebted to sydney!

aiya, look like I got no Luck leh. my two pigs dun like each other.- rather bb dun like gg.
last nite, i remove the divider and bb chase gg. gg so scared and she just dart from one corner to the other. whenever bb approach her - just approach only, gg will dart already.. no need to touch face to face or face to butt. aiyo, me heart pain, see my gg kena threatened by the bully bb. i think my gg muz be so threatened and terrified of bb, that she darts whenever she smells gg nearing her, and i heard she make a scared sound (a short and quick sound - like screaming - like when we watch horror movie, we go ...ahhhh...
.
sigh, so i put back the divider. dunno if gg feel stressed living next to bb. bb (the bad one) must be forever thinking how to break down the divider....
gg is always bery mild, she seldom bully others when she mix wif other piggies.. poor gg, after her mate died, she is staying alone, and i haber got any success matching her with other piggies..

then i put another female piggy - chippy- to intro to bb and gg separately. alemark, havoc again!
chippy & gg:
chippy also chase my mild gg - and gg runs in fright. oh yes, not forgetting also hear chattering, standing fur, and raised head of chippy. so looks like can't get along?
chippy & bb:
big fights! within seconds, both of them roll into a ball and wah rao, i asap use newspaper to beat and separate them. chippy really bad one, she use her head to knock my newspaper roll, as if not happy wif me breaking up the fight, as if saying " i'm fighting leh, why u disturb us! i almost bit the fur off of the other!!" and guess what i saw, in chippy's mouth is a bit of bb's fur!! argghh! same symptoms of loud teeth chattering. look like both are domineering.
funny thing is that when after they bathe, i put them together in a neutral area, no such fights happen leh. these fights occur when i intro them in throughly clean and washed (wif vinegar) cage. hmmm.. how come?

kingzz, that's because in a neutral area neither of your pigs can claim that it's her territory. whereas in a cage, one of your pigs would be fighting for her territory. even if you disinfect it and wash it the pig that has been in that cage previously knows that it's her ground and she wants to defend it.
but i can't really offer advice abt the fighting problem. i'm like wah your pigs are really very fierce!

haiz..i tuo tuo post in office :D ssshhhhhhhhh
last time my boss got warn me b4 haha
errr kingzzz....ur gp is it white colour one?i think saw the pic b4, but the white one is what name?
i think GG is the timid one, and BB&Chippy is the dominant one, so tahts why they fight (until so fierce)
if they dont fight(BB&GG) then its good sign but since she is terrified of BB, then put in same cage but separate by grids, perhaps? so not lonely lo...coz if put together, although no fights, but wait BB always stress
in neutral ground most of them all also scared & nv mark territory yet, so all quite 'blur' when u put eg: on the balcony/ floor. If i put them out...they all will start to stun, sit one corner...dare not move. I must distance myself, then they start to roam about & pee.

ya, haha! vey fierce sia! especially chippy who uses her head to knock my newspaper roll, as like heading a soccer ball! luckily i know never to use my bare hands to separate fights.
when i put bb and gg on neutral ground, ie. my living room. i can see that gg dun like to go near bb.
i tried bathing them together and blow dry them together.. they are ok leh... next time, i apply the same beauty lotion for them, then they all smell the same!! haha, maybe they wun fight liao.
now sianz, cos all live in their own place,... i wish they all can stay together as cage mates ... and make frens...wow.. really envy what the rest said.... "sniff butt, chase each other, then when discover, make happy sounds when being discovered......" heeeeeeeeeeee, i wished mine were so frenly and lovely!

white one adopted already. yah lor, i scared gg very stressed. she is my first pig leh, and i dun wan her to be stressed, like giving outn sounds of stress wor, how can i put her next to a bully. now i put her in a big cage (cage fit for 3 pigs) with a big fiddle stick and her own food dish. hahaa.. then i let them two bullies/ fighters share the another cage. let them stare stare each other....
got one time, my water bottled dunno why leak, and the food dish which is just below the water bottle got Flooded with water to the brim! my poor piggy gg muz b hungry the whole day. she muz hv pushed the food dish to under the water bottle.

Nv put ur food dish under the waterbottle. the pigs will find it tough to reach the water and if there are drops of water into the bowl the pellets will become soggy and bacteria/ fungus can grow there...
i think its ok to put the timid one with one of ur fierce one... the timid one just need time to adjust. dun over worry ok? as long as no fights, they can live together. Also, are u sure ur 'dominant' one is a female?
