Looking for good home for my piggies

Currently I have 9 piggies. As my baby will be arriving in march, I will have difficulty coping with so many piggies. Thus reluctantly, I have to give away 3 of them for adoption

1. peru - brown (1.5 yr )
2. Sheltie (long hair) - White / brown (1yr)
3. Abby - brown (6mths)

Pupu was infected by mites 3 days after stay in my house, i guess it must be the sudden change of environment, and also partly tt time im still new to GP, so maybe dunno wads the best beddings/how often to change.

Machi i got it from someone in here (ahem)
and it oredi got mites when it was sold to me...
but coz i treat Pupu b4, i know how to handle it by then.
so within 1 week recovered

since then they have no mites up till now.
but different ppl have diffrent reaction hahaha
for me, coz im basically a dirty girl, mites to me is nothing!
i helped my parents pluck dog fleas, those on my dog fur, and on the garden walls~ eee they realli crawl and even stay in between the brick's gaps, all line-up..gross
:p trust me,i had seen worst (my dog kana mange mites till jialat jialat...i can show u the fotos, but i think better not coz all will eeee in disgust, and it will remind me of his death :( do u know, one night b4 he died, he actually appeared in my dream and barking happily, with fur all recover & i was there excited, telling my sisters "EVAN HAS HEALED, YAY")..the next morning, my mom ring my sis house where i was staying, and said Evan had passed away :( Its as if he bidding his last farewell to me...waaa, i better stop or i realli going to cry now... (im a sucker when it comes to my pets)

back to topic, if u hate mites & dun dare to touch the pig body with ur bare hands...u can use protective glove lo when u spray the anti-mites and u need to rub the GP body :) but this is one good news: I read that GP mites ONLY SPREAD to other GPs...and not to humans/ others. so do not worry of getting a 'mites infection' on urself :D

anyway, so far, i haber encounter any mites for my piggies. would want to learn how to handle too, though i hope i dun wanna ever encounter it.. by ensuring my piggies & cage are clean.

there is one kind of mites i think - or is it called manga/ or some other name - that one spreads to humans.. meaning your hand will feel itchy, then yr face and your hair too... yucks. and u are supposed to wash your hand clean each time u handle the sick animal.

Hi to all, i'm the terrible money making seller who sold machi to Popcheek. :yes: yes machi is very healthy when i sold to her, and from my point of view mites on gp is not that VERY serious problem, not that i sold to her that time machi got skin dieases or furloss.

mites will be present at every corner of the cage, my pigs have mites, but i don seen to encounter BIG problems like u guys do.

I can say that I am quite Kiasee when it comes to things which havent happened to me. Last time when I bought Jack, I asked the salesgirl "How to see he healthy a not huh?" Then she say "You see his eyes and ears no discharge and no fur loss ok liao" then I happily reserved him. I didnt know there was a thingy called mites until I came to this forum, hearing most forumers saying their piggies kana like chicken pox. Up to right now, I am happy to say that the petshop did not "cheated" me regarding his healthiness except the breed and its been 2 months having him and he still hasn't have mites. Quite happy with it...

Popcheek, if I were you and already know the mites thingy, I will not accept the adoption of Machi because to be realistic, who doesn't want a healthy pig the moment it lays on your hands? Why should I trouble myself to buy extra remedy and an extra visit of vet just to cure the problem while I am supposed to be a satisfied client in the first place? You have to right to walk away just like visiting a shop and tell the person you just come and see.

Ginmo, you should not say that mites is a small thingy because luckily Popcheek was experienced in the mites thingy and she knew what to do when you handle her to Machi. If the adopter was a newbie and he/she doesnt know anything, do you know its causes problem for him/her to ask everyone how to get rid of mites problem and have to buy extra products. (especially when started to have pets, an amount of money is needed for neccessities) And since you have so used to the situation you should solved it and then let go for selling. Do you expect that when you buy a shirt and its dirty when the salesperson got you a new piece and tells you "This shirt is new piece from storeroom, you just go home and wash the stain can liao". You still want to buy that shirt? I hoped I did not offend you because afterall, I believe you are still a pet lover and on the behalf of GP owners who encounter mites I hope you don't say them as if they were freak out for nothing when they asked for help. The reason is simple: They just cared for their pets.

the reason i dun state the nick is coz i dun wan to blow the matter up, but instead he step in & even said the terrible thing.Well, then i cant keep mum abt this also although i got Machi quite a while ago liao...but pls understand i do not want to create trouble for anyone.

ahwen: i bought Machi from him, not adopt. but to add injury to my dissapointment, he reduce the price for the other pig he was selling in his ads, after i got Machi. Of course he seller, can change to any price he want. But I was feeling dejected, coz i thought maybe when on the spot he said got mites, maybe at least say sorry or even offer discount (which he didnt say any).I only know from SMS that the pig was in 'healthy condition'...and i still remember what he told me in MRT station, that he feel that recycled paper beddings is more prone to mites problem. That time i was still using woodshavings,and when he told me that...i was quite skeptical abt the cat litter,coz if its more exp & more mite-prone, then why should i get it?

But i change to cat litter nonetheless, and im very satisfied with it. Not even mites problem, less odour & less dusty. I clean every 3 days...so i was wondering, his cage clean every how many days until got mites everywhere??? Why no bother to disinfect the cage?

I have to agree with ah wen, its considered lucky for you Ginmo tt i have encountered mites and not disgusted by it. not all ppl are comfortable with touching mites, trust me i know, coz 1-2 ppl in MSN was freaking out lolz.... as i told you again, b4 u sell the piggies, pls make sure they not only healthy, but also mite-free. Mites is also considered a disease leh...if u leave it untreated, sure grow into bigger problem. Eg: like LICE in human hair, if u leave it untreated..u think lo...??

Well, i have no say in how u take care of your piggies at home, but to have a mites-infected pigs & cage...doesnt it reflect your responsibility as an owner? Seriously, if you never mention your cage, we all think that you are a darn good piggy owner....but now we know, and its up to them what they think of you.

At least now your mitey piggy is no longer mitey, in my care. The cage has alot of weird toys, and is fed well. Cage is clean, food is plentiful. I somehow feel lucky Machi is out from your home even if i have to pay for it.

No hard feelings, but pls consider your action as a gp breeder, a seller, and an owner. I believe a little trouble to ensure healthy & mite-free piggies won't hurt.Some of us have even more than 10 piggies at home....their piggies are super clean. If they can, you can too :)

stay cool ok. this is an open forum, in other words, anyone can come in, any one can express their feelings and thoughts freely. I am very new here, and new to pigs too.... hence learning and doing homework here before i finally get one or two... or..., at the same time, i am a moderator of a car forum. like this one, it's open, anyone can come in, we cant control the things they say.... but we can privately warn lah ;)

In every forum, there will be members who share, at times, gossip, TCSG also.....but that doesn't mean a forum is not mature, it's great to see poeple post here, cos at least there is the interest and commitment.

i have always treat friends in forums sincerely, and with that, i have made quite a number of good friends in a car forum, we will meet, makan, go to each other's place, we know each other's family members, make driving trips to together....etc..etc... and we do have things that we dun agree, but because we treasure the friendship that we have, we can always resolve it in no time.
