hmmm....not sure abt yr pig, age, foods & home condition...if there is no sign of wat u have mentioned ... then it may be now in weakened state or around the time of weaning. "Barbering" also results in hair loss...

or bad habit! occurs when guinea pigs chew on the hair coats of guinea pigs that are lower in the social pecking order.Younger guinea pigs can lose substantial amounts of hair as a result of this activity.

but sound dun seem to be...as u mentioned >big patch of loss fur ? may be fungal disease and external parasite infestations. u may check out~~ http://www.guinealynx.info/hairloss.html

if not post a photo to us:)
cheers

can't see ur pixs. I would bet on fungus. BTW fungus need to be flakey at all. Scamp had a bald spot and there weren't any flakes. Only when he went to see Dr Ling, that she did some skin scrap and found fungus.

U can bring ur pig to the vet cos they will be the best to advise u. Can also go to the pharmacy to get Daktarin Powder (abt $15++) and use it on the bald spot.

i only apply once as it can be too harsh for the pig. And i dun apply every single day. more like apply 2 days rest one day.

This is what i do, dust some powder on the problematic parts then i used my finger to rub it in. Cos when u powder it on, the powder gets trap in between the hair shafts and do not get in contacted with the skin.
