Clean GP?

Hmm, was wondering.. how do u keep ur piggies clean?? I read that bathing is not very good per se .. So, we just comb them, and that's it? hahaha, can powder them anot?.. And, anybody succeeded at litter-training? =)

So far from what I see, like no piggies litter-trained before... Or hard to litter train, cos they pee and poo everywhere. We keep our GPs clean by using good bedding like B2N or Breeders Celect, clean cage at least twice a day and disinfect it. Yes they can be powder bathe but wet bathing must be performed at least once or twice per month...

Thats all I can think about... Any add in or need to be corrected?

i bathe my piggies once every forthnight...i use a spray on shampoo every 4 days and i brush them with a toothbrush..ahhaha

i change my bedding every 2-3days...(latest by the 3rd day i'll make sure that i change the bedding)...i disinfect with 1 part bleach and 9 parts water...and occasional scrub with dettol...and yes i use both 'Back to Nature' and 'Breeder's Celect' beddings...

Haha hanmin you so cute sia when you mentioned the prickly heat powder... When I feel very hot, I also used that powder and my family described it as "Snake Powder" cos of the picture. I dunno if that can be used leh... The powder shampoo, just powder over their body and onto the skin then brushit as usual... You can take a look at Jace thread "Long Cavy Grooming - a reference". I am using the same powder as her, its from Minimal Goods.

lolx..i dun like to use tt snake powder .. coz the feeling u get after that is cold cold yet mint hot hot :D normal baby powder with lavender (the purple white bottle) i like...

err hanmin, dun use that prickly powder on ur gp lah lolx...unless stated "safe for small animals" muahahaha i also ask b4, can use bb shampoo on GP anot, Jace said better stick to animal stuff for animal, human stuff for human....so dun bathe urself in anti-mites shampoo when u got lice/dandruff hoh lolx.... but for fungal, and also Vit C, can use human product..some is exceptions lah

Well powder bath won't kill them but u still need to give them wet baths at least once a mth (the very min liao) or else their fur will be oily and sticky.. u gotta touch an unbathed pig to get what i mean.

As to using human products on pigs, as Popcheek said there are some exceptions. These are mostly medicinal based products as not much research is done in the area of animal meds so animals have to eat human meds. Even Daktarin powder i m using for my fungus-y pigs, i use sparingly. like powder 2 days rest one day...

but then....tahan first lor...and look out for people giving up for adoption..that way u can help him or her solve their problem..u save money..and more importantly..preparation for their arrival muahah

Haha Sorry is at least twice a week... Not day... I don't change them like having meals, unless I am retired and nothing to do. :D Personally I change it 3-4 times a week.

During that time the petshop there was very clean. The petshop guy told me that no one helps him to maintain it...he was so fustrated, he quit soon after.

No that guy works at that petshop. One month after my order (stock don't have, arrive one month later), he SMS he to confirm delivery, I agree the dates. and it was more than once he did that. Like Tues delivery came, two days before SMS again and confirm. After that will start to ask other questions...
