Ya i know what Elaine is talking abt liao. cos i went to search the forum.

I have to say something here. As u know i m pretty vocal abt breeding and also the way newcomers dun bother to read up before they ask questions. I have been in the forum for close to 2 yrs. and honestly i have answered the same qns on piggies over and over again. Sometimes u can sense my frustrations and exasperation when i reply and i do get scolded at, cursed at, been called names etc by many members here. Yet I m still around, while those ppl chose to leave cos of me and my inflexibility (or whatever). Why? Simply becos i love my pigs more than my own pride. I can get scolded by u, but the most impt role i wanna achieve is to help other owners on their pigs. not to make sure i m right all the time. I make it a point to read up first before i asked, or post an ans to other ppl's qns. If i m wrong, then i will be the first to apologise. Leaving the forum doesn't achieve much. it just shows how shallow u are and how u feel that u can't be wrong, that ur pride is hurt and most imptly, how immature u are.

So if u guys ever face flaming in the forum becos of the things u think matter to ur pig, stand strong and not run. i m sure with explanation, the rest of the members will understand and will stop their attacks. If u realise that ur thinking is wrong, then change. its not that difficult to change nor admit that u are wrong. Ultimately, ur pig is the one we are concerned abt. Not u, nor ur pride.

For those who find themselves against other ppl's thinking, give them a chance to explain and give them enough space to change. dun rub it in nor add more angry words. Its tough (i m guilty of it too) but u are not thinking abt the pig. It might be better if things are settled privately via PM.

so pple, let's make this forum work, the way it should ok?

Jace, what you have said, it's cool. and i must agree with you, repeating an answer once or twice is ok lor, but again and again is indeed fustrating..... and sometimes, what i do is i will just paste the thread and lead them where to read.
i am new here, and i also have a lot of question to ask, and at times, will just pop the question without much search..... yes, i confess... i am guilty of that too. Well.... i find the people in here are great, helpful to share and commited too, and that's a good sign for a forum.... so let's keep it up!!

haha... but some pple(like me) a bit lazy to read stuff all over again frm some old post... thats y we can rely on the experienced...*winks at Jace* forum is a friendly place and all pple of a same interest gather... Sadly... there are pple who comes here for an ulterior motives and die hard breeders and pple who tinks that mites r not a big prob and that i dun find any good reason not to flame them.... but even so flaming them does not makes them wake up also..... it only get rid of them for causing more trouble....

haha.. tat's y i always call jace Dr Jace :D

i guess its ok if its something urgent, no time to search n u just wan immediate answers.. but for general questions i feel tt wld be pet owners shld do abit of research first then ask questions if they can't find it.. rather than just ask, esp for generic questions like, wat do gps eat; wat do i need to start with; how to take care of them etc etc... all these can be found on the internet, as well as in the threads ...

for me, i seldom angry
which brings me to get bullied even in real life
hahahahhaa............... (but i always throw temper at my husb :p)

and regarding the ppl who seldom do searches,
sometimes it's not realli their fault...
i try it myself, as in trying to find some post i've read b4...
i remember some keywords and do a "SEARCH" in pets.com.sg
in the end, nothing matches...and they give a outdated ones sometimes....so i think the search engine in pets.com.sg have to be improved...

if do a search in Yahoo/ Google, no problem one..most of them come out a detailed info..but i want local flavour :) coz angmoh country some of the stuff different which made me doubtful.

so lucky got this forum so ouoken, some ppl realli blur, some realli funny, some realli pro, some realli pissing off, etc. Overall, i think it is balanced :D too much good thing is bad, so must add in some bad things to make it balance lo :D

Hmmm... From my personal opinion... Most newbies will just straightaway asked the questions they do not know(like me), like how to take care, what they eat, what is popcorn etc hence Old Birds like Jace will "pek chek" to answer... Haha... I roughly can understand why it happens all the time because its very simple...

Man are born to be selfish so they only cared for the answers they got from their thread, instead of reading from the previous threads which don't have his/her "share" So the repeating of similar threads keep appearing... Apologies if I offended anyone... But thats what I feel initially, as a newbie you don't feel like reading posts from people don't know.. Then soon after you get to know more "friends" here, then will bother to read up the other thread/posts.

And I agree with Popcheek that the foreign cavy webbies differs a lot of information which are different despite their country, living style, weather, foods hence their many ways of "upbringing" their cavies, we don't know where to follow from. And Singapore is a mini tiny country and only one or few kinds of webbie to learn from, so the doubts are almost the same as everyone.

We came here to learn from each other, and trying to know more about our pets, instead of arguements and disagreements everywhere... We cant control everyones thinking eg. breeding but at least many of us done a part on telling them to separate the different genders, telling them the risks or using the correct bedding BUT if they privately don't changed for the better there is nothing else we can do... Just like in NKF, many people donate for the sake of helping the patients, but the money end up at other places... So it appeals to our donation (advice) as well... We will not know whether the advice has been "used" a not. I hope this comparisions can let you guys catched the ball? Pai seh if this comparison is kind of lau yah...

But I have never regret joining in this forum... You guys are great in solving my basic doubts and I will still continue to log in! Hehe... :boat:

yea i agree reading this piggie forum is like my daily thing also.heh glad my thread brought some response.actually i do know how u all feel towards irrespinsible owners.but sometimes, the way the msg is brought across also can minus the intense emotions la...hehe.i know we all care for our piggies still communications work only if both are on level.if not one angry one slam one kena then its very confusing yea

Hrmmm i m referring to the posts on qns like what do pigs eat, what to they need, what do the owners need to do etc etc. not emergency qns or those pertaining to illness. for those basic qns, every country's response is mostly the same. Hay, pellets and litter and veggies.. may be u guys, even 'new' ppl like Ahwen can help reply these ppl's enquiries. cos i m simply too lazy to repeat and repeat and repeat.

everyone can be an experienced piggy owner. I m not the only one... its a matter of reading overseas forums (i dunno what u guys mean when u say it is not really applicable here) and learning from them.. REALLY! :D

No lah, please dun say that. When i believe that I am right in something and have the necessary stuff to back me up even after considering the opposite side, i will stick to my guns. U have to be open to other ppl's opinions too. Like ppl who wanna breed, i can't stop them but i can continue to make noise. There are always 2 sides of the story so always have an open mind. when u do, whether the thing is correct or not, u will learn much much more.
