So is asking for rescuing the 2 abys? It can be that the guy is kind of blur and inexperienced... And selling at high price somemore... Feeling kind of pitiful towards the poor environment... Prodigy, you don't wanna rescue them? If you could find someone to buy another one, can bargain for discounts, since this is no fixed price, and is for SALE.

yeah i've seen those abbys. pass by the shop almost everyday. and it makes me really sad to see those two pigs in a fish tank. they keep the abbys in a FISH TANK can? and the bedding is disgusting. there's barely enough space for them to run around. i agree with prodigy. but seriously how to rescue them if we don't buy them? lodge a complaint to AVA? and btw that shop is keeping a rabbit in a fish tank too. :( the shop is along the same row as video ezy and jean yip hair salon if you want to take a look...

Fish Tank in Petshops is only a temporary solution for them to live in, since they were going to be bought. For owners to keep pets inside the fish tank forever, I personally do not think is very acceptable. There is a previous thread saying it doesnt has much air ventilation and promote fungus (am I correct?) easily... And its hard to clean the cage. My friend keeps her GP in the tank, 2 feet if I am not wrong. I cant tell her that fish tank is not the best choice, since its her idea...

Hmmm if I already prepared to get another piggy I will try to bring my present piggy over to see they "gum" a not, Haha...

A hamster in a 2 ft tank is like a bungalow sia... She thinks that tank can be as a cage for GPs cos of what she saw at pershops, so she follow the idea... And she say her piggie stinks. I dunno is the housing problem or what...

prodigy
26th January 2006, 01:37 PM
it is.... plz advise her to change.... they put in tank becoz its display pigs...wait... i find pics of bella's hsing...

ahwen

I can imagine the pig grow big liao confirm no much space to move about... Find it hard to raise the topic suddenly about GPs cos tomorrow may be the last chance to see her, as I will be resigning tomorrow. Haha... Just hoped that the expansion of cage will come to her mind... Otherwise, I couldn't help...

yesterday evening, i went to NTUC near my place to buy some stuff. then while walking back, by past this aquarium shop at blk 164 at bukit batok west ave 8.... outside there was this cage with a sign written "dear bros, sis, daddy and mummy, please bring me home for chinese new year" (i think the words is about there lah...cant remember all...) look into the cage, it was divided into 2 compartments, there was 2 GPs in 1 compartment and 1 bunny in the other.... the bunny still ok, sitting near to outside, and looking out... but the 2 GPs.... lying/sitting facing inside, look very sian/depress. talk to them also no respond..... so poor thing.... 1 is brown and black, the other is brown and white..i think... but dun ask me what breed, how old lor... cos i really dont know... only know they very poor thing.... :(

oh yah... the only lying on a small patch of hay..... about slightly less than half the size of their compartment.... :(

ahwen
26th January 2006, 03:10 PM
Hmmm... Poor thingies! How much they selling...?

Pitoto
26th January 2006, 03:15 PM
$45.

i see them very poor thing...... but i am a not experience GP owner.... so dun know if i can make them happy if i get them home (also i havn't bought my cage...) so if you all the more experience ones, if can help to make them happier and better home, do also help save them.

the clementi abbys are in a tank that has barely enough space for them to move. it's like they can stand there stationary side by side, and there wouldn't be alot of space left. that's basically what prodigy is trying to say i guess.

prodigy
26th January 2006, 03:39 PM
hmmm.... issit the one near the MRT station one??? feel like taking a look

ahwen
26th January 2006, 03:44 PM
Hmmm... Hope they will find a loving home... However we also cannot let this always happen like "So poor thing here, lets rescue them by buying them back". Although it saves the life of the pet, but the petshop always gains it. So the petshops will think that by not putting any effort and give them dirty environment still gives them sales. The mistakes will always be repeating. Haiz... Wonder if there's any way to stop it?

you are so very rite. it's the same as that begger in bangkok, whos have this dog with him, and he actually taught the dog to "beg",.... he will actually lie on the floor and beg with a bowl in front of him. those who have went bangkok might have seen it, i was there 3-4 years back.... and people will actually give money to him into his bowl and not the man's bowl, but they are actually together.

diff situation, similar concept.

oh come to think of it.... ok ... i know i am going to go off track here, but have search but didn't seems to find any answer.... sorry sorry....especially to Prodigy...

as i was saying, i have not get a cage yet, i intend to have 2 piggies in the end, otherwise very lonely lor, cos i work, wife work, kiddo at in-law house. anyway.... how big a cage shld i get? 1 cage for 1 GP or 1 big cage for both? now i thinking of having cage and not the C&C. any suggestions?

prodigy
26th January 2006, 04:10 PM
one thing i dun like abt custom made cage is becuz i find it still too small for 2 adult pigs.... minimum space per pig is 2ft by 2ft.... so 4 ft by 4.... my new custom made is 230cm by 100 cm by 5 tenth again no grids.... will post pics very soon

i went to Lot1 at choa Chu Kang yesterday, there is a pet shop at the basement....in a corner. I think quite new, cos ....it looks new lor.... but they have not got any animals there yet....thou they have this cabinet that looks like to display animals.

yeah.... i really hope so. but i think the GPs still not in such "danger" yet... this year is year of dogs mah... so ..... i remember 12 years back, a lot of ppl buy dogs bcos of year of the dog, then later realise they dun want to take care of it anymore,,..... so it went to the street, SPCA...etc...

the clementi pet shop concerned in this thread has two new pigs up for sale. they're a long haired breed, either...can't tell whether abby or peruvian yet. one is brown, with red eyes and the other is white and brown. around 3 months old, i think. they look a little on the skinny side to me though. didn't have time to go in and ask about the cost, coz i was on my way to work... so just for your info lah. :)

it's so sad...popped by on the way to work again and i looked at the two little fellas frm outside. the all-brown piggy looks like it's in really bad shape...crusty nose...and probably infected with mites... :( but i was (as usual) going to be late and had to rush off...wish i could do more... :(

u know i dont dare to look at such pigs.damn poor thing.i dont want to go there n feel rage against the pet shop owners, they're bbusiness makers not pet lovers so what can we say.i just feel #@Q##$%^^& if i have money i'll round up all the poor babies n give them a good home.

hmm it had been quite some time since Prodigy posted this & no one had bought the poor abbies?
they for sale ..? no wonder no body buy coz it is sick looking mah....sad, coz usually ppl buy a healthy piggy. Since they are sick...either sell them for free, or nurse them back to health 1st then display for sale?

daeee
28th February 2006, 09:20 AM
the white and brown one seems fine. i dunno whether i see wrongly la, but the all brown abby seems to have a crusty nose...and fur loss around the nose. as if it has some sort of fungal infection.

prodigy

if the person allow to carry them.... u will see mites... i hope da dude cleaned the bedding regularly le....

ahwen
28th February 2006, 03:21 PM
See nearly... I dunno, but got their body smell like never bathe, last time J J also smelly when I bring him home. I never carry them also cos they ignore me leh, machiam talk among themselves only. But I can see the brown with red eye is quite skinny. Mites not sure, and bedding totally ok, didnt see any wet beddings.

28th February 2006, 04:21 PM
Heh, heh... I'm now using this no-brand hay that I bought from lps. I know some of u dun like the lady there. Ha. Neither do I. But I usually speak to the guy, and he's quite good.

Anyway, its 2nd cut tim hay from NZ, so mostly leaves, and its quite green too. It smells quite fragrant too, like fresh cut grass. Its $6 for 500g, and my pigs love it. They've finished 1 pack in abt a week!

ahwen
28th February 2006, 04:31 PM
Hoho~ I have mentioned to Prodigy and Xiaoevo before that I wanna try no-brand hay also. Cos those self packed ones also looked greeny to me!

Hobbes
28th February 2006, 04:37 PM
Yep. Maybe u shd buy a pack and try lo... So far, my piggers seem satisfied. Every nite fill hay rack till full, next morning all gone! About 10% will be on the cage floor. Those picky pigs will only eat the green leaves and leave the odd brown one on the floor. Picky, picky :)
