is your hay box thing made of car?? beware hor if it is. guinea pigs chew car like nobody's business. car is banned from my gp's cage in case she consumes it.

dun need 3 days. just overnight, you will see it half gone already. i have one pig and she's fully capable of that. you have two lehhh. and then you'll start worrying whether you will see car bits in piggy poo. really lor. get a hay rack..you'll be able to find it in most pet stores.

Ya, cabbage is not a good idea. Gives them gas, and makes them uncomfortable. Try going to http://www.guinealynx.info/ for more info on the foods that you should and should not feed, as well as their nutritional value :)

Its okay, she just need time to adjust. Sometimes J J got mood swings one... I feed him Xiao Bai Chye before, the response was just average. If your GP doesnt really touch it for damn few days, it means she really don't like it.

yeah it takes time for you to find out what veges your pig likes. but i can tell you that mine doesn't really fancy xiao bai cai...she'll eat all the leaves and the stem will be left lying there in the bowl.
and btw they like hay coz it's their staple food. like we eat rice as a staple right? so hay is to them what rice is to us.
abt the veges, it takes a while for them to get the hang of eating veges. like slowly they will understand that veges are gd for them laaaa. mine took quite a long time to understand that, and now she gobbles down her favourite veges in no time. :D

wah seh, daeee...
ur sydney and my pigs are SOoooOo alike
i began to suspect they are long lost brothers & sisters hahahaha (although abit impossible lah, all pig is from different seller)
MINE also eat xiaobaichye...the leaf only, and dun wan the stem...so after they eat, i will come back and pick up the fat fat stems....maybe bitter ah? :yuck:
and the reverse goes to sweet potato leaves. In the initial stage ah, Pupu loves the leaves more than the stem.....now they ALWAYS eat the stem , dun eat the leaves, unless they hungry in the middle of the night....coz nx morning i see, sometimes many leaf, sometimes only left little bit.

ahwen
2nd February 2006, 10:55 AM
Yeah, Alfafal Hay is for preggie and young Guinea Pigs (Below 1/2 Year). But don't buy too much, since after 1/2 year of age will need to switch to Timothy and other Hay liao...

ur this alfafa is the ALFAFA SPROUT (the bean sprout tt looks like armpit hair) :D :sly:
or ALFAFA HAY? :rose:
i nv try alfafa sprouts b4, so i dunno.... but young piggies is better to eat alfafa-hay based...so even the pellets is OXBOW's CAVY PERFORMANCE, and they also sell alfafa hays. It is good for fattening them up...and to serve as 'foundation'....when quite big liao, then switch to Timothy-hay based ... coz too fat is bad for health :)
