how to differentiate abby from peruvian

hi all,

am a newbie in gp hence wouldnt want to manage a long-hair gp for a start.

seems a peruvian requires a higher level of maintenance right?

will like to enquire how to differentiate an abby and a peruvian ?

to me when young, seems the peru and abby looks similar right ?

any tell take characteristics ?

Abby is short coarsecoat gp.
Peru is long coat gp.

aiyioh... i tink wad he meant was....when they r young... how to differenciate.... i heard frm somewhere u can count the rosettes of a pure abby... they only got 8.... correct me if i m wrong...

Pure aby has 10 rosettes... I think if the hair looks coarse, or the rosettes very obvious? Haha...

Last time I count J J... Very little! Only 4-6 if I not wrong, when his fur is still short for me to count. Now standard got two at his rump area, same as Mich's Peruvian. Last time I read in webbie that 10 or above (should be rather messy) is pure breed, but 8 and above can enter competition. Here is Singapore, nobody cares... Haha...

Our range of accepted pets not so much mah... Government also rather spend money on other things like investment, earn money, change aeroplane every 2 years, upgrade buildings,etc rather then taking a "look" at the pets. Haiz... Thats why we got so many complains towards the petshops.

for me not particular abt show quality etc, most important is must be an abby bcause doubt i can manage a peruvian as a newbie and most of the pet shops i went too, one moment they told me its an abby; next moment its a peru and told me pretty difficult to differentiate an abby / peru when GPs are young.

is it true ? does peru also have rossettes ?

Yes, peruvians has rosettes. You can take mine and Boredphucks case. We bought our GP from the same petshop, and both of us were told to be abysinnian. But after we have them for around a month, hair is longer and flattened. Abysinnian's fur does not grow longer hair.

not true.... there quite a handful on pets.... apparently... when they say pets.... pple usually think of dogs cats rabbits hamsters... seldom guinea pigs.... in other countries.... that's a diff story....

ya in singapore tt's true. the other day i went to buy bc bedding frm this small pet supplies shop near my house. and the uncle thought i have a cat! actually i wish i had a cat but my mother doesn't like cats. but anyway i told him tt i have a guinea pig and he commented that very few people nowadays keep gp's here. so we're part of an elite minority :D hehe so lucky we have this forum. :o

Hmmm I dunno there is really guinea pigs until I saw ah lian, haha... Then after that Guinea Pigs seems normal to me... Actually that time I wanted to have Lops as pets but my sister refused, so I am back to GPs... Hehehe...

so far he has provision pass... but sometimes when got his shit on the floor or fur on my clothing... she will say " one more time ur na ge si dong xi leave his li wu ard... i will catch him like how i catch cockroah like that and throw him away" but she never attempt to go near....
