where to get? easy way-pets shop, better way adoption
there's so many abandoned pets, its good to help.
will they bite? mine doesnt, only nibbles, but ive seen 1 or 2 gps that do bite.
sterilisation not recommended unlike cats or dogs that become more well behaved after being strelise, its doesnt change the gps behaviour. its better to keep the same sex so as that they dont breed and breed and breed.
all animal wld cost quite an amt, for gps, they needed constant supply of food and beddings, so depending on how many u keep, it starts fm $70 onwards, that not including vets cost, shld they fall sick
easy to handle in wat sense, when u are holding the pet and petting or the whole process of taking care of them, cleaning & changing their beddings frequently, bathing them feeding them vit c, it not difficult but definately time consuming, when i jz change the bedding, usually it wld take me 30mins, including clean up.
a pet is a life long commitments, dont take it up as a hobby or an impluse.
hope that some of the info helps u and that when u decide to get a gp, keep us posted on the journey,

You can adopt them in SPCA, from Home Breeders or in Yahoo Auctions where you can buy them at cheap prices. Guinea Pigs seldomly bite unless their character is already the biting style if not they feel irritated. You will have to tolaerate with their nibbling and I don't think it hurts, just the feeling of their teeth. It depends on how you think is easy to handle a not. Are you referring to the cost of their maintenance or the time needed to look after them? I can say both. They need attention (as a reason why guinea pigs are preferably to be keep in pairs) and also needed a very clean environment, as they were prone in mites. You may look at the thread "GP starter kit" by Kimchi to read on what we normally feed our piggies and how do we maintain them. Glad to have another forumer interested in Piggies!

peacefullife: one thing to note abt pigs biting, it depends on the individual pigs la. like different ppl have different characters, so do pigs. so some pigs may get irritated more easily and thus react by biting. my guinea pig is pretty much on the feisty side and she does this sometimes when she gets annoyed with me or when she wants to get back into the cage when im handling her. on the whole guinea pigs are rather gentle and sweet person and biting pigs are not exactly the norm :)

got so little?..i agreed on the $50~70/gp. Bedding, pellets and hay would cost me so much already. Sup such as vit c and freshs would just add more to it lor.

mmm...pls be ensure u can afford a GP b4 u get one as mentioned above. Using a dangerous bedding, foods & cage justifying it by saying u can't afford proper things for yr pet is wrong. GP should not have to suffer coz of u.. or otherwise if it costs at least $30-50 to visit a vet & that excludes medicine depend on the sick gp:(
I recommend adopting from SPCA. At least SPCA ensure that their GP healthy & well taken care of. Another alternative is visiting market place in this forums or asking around. There could be someone who wishes to put his GP up for adoption.
or buying from breeders n the price of GP depend on individual type & breed. Gd luck!
Cheers
