So, im actually a student( O's this year) , and was thinking of getting a Chinchilla. Should i get one, or just get a hamster instead, because as i said, still studying, not much $$.

So, i actually post here to get to know more about them, cause my past pet experiences were only fishes, so i dont really know much, althought i did an intensive 3 day research on chinchillas (during mid year =.=)

I think a chinchilla is the pet for me cause
-i heard it's odurless (mother doesnt like smelly stuff haha)
-they're really really cute! ^^
-i heard they're active during dusk/dawn, b4 sku and after sku!
-they last long!


Some concerns that i hope chin pros would help me with are
-temperature in singapore, i heard chins can only survive with 22 degrees (around there) temp, i guess my room isnt that hot, but i cant AC 24/7, would a small fan work?
-humidity, i read chins prefer 40% while singapore is like 84% humidity.. HOW?!
-cost, should i get second hand stuff(cages, acessories)? starting to save now (selling guitar too :x)
-would 1 chin be enough, some say enuf, some say need at least 2 o.o (i would play with it thou)
-how big should the cage be, and how many times a day must i let it out?
-can i leave it alone in a cage for like.. eg. a day? cause i wont be home 24/7 , got camps and stuff like tat, and i dont think my mother would play with it.
-Where should i get chins? anymore 'breeders' around?



So, maybe you guys can tell me your experiences with chins too :P
If you have the time, please help me out here, cause im making a rather important decision in my life, is a chin more of a blessing or a burden in my situation. what would you do if you're me?
