Urgent need of blood transfusion for collie

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie and am in desperate need for help, not sure whether i am allowed to post this here but thought i needed the reach. I have a 9 plus yr old collie who underwent surgery (castration) on 12.1.06 and after that his red blood cells went down from around 30 to 12. There were a few donor dogs at the animal hospital but none were suitable. 4 friends brought their dogs in for blood donation but none were suitable. He was unable to walk and was in the ICU and given oxygen. His heart was also irregular and he was put on lidodine and atenolol and later replaced with Quinidine. He improved sligtly (blood count 18) but today it was dropped to 15 in the morning (could be lower now). He is now in the ICU & on oxygen again. He is in critical condition and urgently needs a blood transfusion to pull him through. I was wondering whether anyone with dogs about 20kg willing to donate blood to jack. The procedure is to go take a small sample for suitability and if so, to donate a bag of blood (around 440cc). The vet does not have any suitable donor at the hospital. quite sad....to hear of such things happening...will ask around....see whether my neighbour willing to help......he got a husky....think big enough....keep u posted......
